My name is Jacques Nyemb. I was born in Cameroon, Africa to a Cameroonian father and an American mother. This dynamic has shaped the lens in which I see the world. I tend not to see things in black and white. I see bright vibrant colors and continuously try to find creative ways to make seemingly different people see those colors too. I think that’s where my interest in graphics and design came from. I do not know of many kids who cared about “conveying a message” when they drew a picture. But that was me, an old soul, wanting the world to understand what’s in his head.
As I grew up, I tried to put creativity in a box and locked it by deciding to cater to my technical side. I went to college to become an electrical engineer. My fascination with currents and electricity seemed to be more “lucrative” at the time, but I soon found out I could not contain my love for design in that locked box. During my Junior year of college I decided to change majors and go towards graphic communication systems. This led me towards the path I am in now.
Along the way I’ve gained some knowledge working at my Alma mater NC A&T State University, where I first got free to spread my wings as a graphic designer. I later became a Production artist for a Major Law firm Womble Carlyle Sandridge and Rice, where I learned that creativity can still be present in a structured environment. I later left there to work at a non-profit organization LC Industries, where I was responsible for design, site structure (information architecture), and daily maintenance of their ecommerce websites and many of LCI’s localized sites. I also Created HTML promotional and transactional emails.
After marrying my lovely wife, I decided to leave my job and freelance full time. And here I am, continuously exploring all of my abilities. Since then, interests in photography emerged as well as video and writing. I find myself immersed with creative ideas and want to use this website to display all of my work, thoughts and ideas.
Welcome to my life’s journey. I hope you enjoy the ride!
~Jacques
