The economy is rough. And it’s getting harder for people, including graphic artist, to find work out there. I found myself submitting résumés upon résumés to various hiring managers but barely got any responses. Those I did get feedback from told me I was competing with hundreds (and I MEAN hundreds) of other applicants.
This challenge made a light bulb flash in my head. I decided to think of myself as a brand. My goal was to distinguish myself from the other HUNDREDS of applicants .
- First I created a subject line they could not resist Hire this SNAZZY dresser! You won’t be sorry.
- I then designed an HTML e-mail with imagery that grab attentions. I linked it to all of my work and VOILA! You’ve got this AWESOME EMAIL.
Surprisingly I have gotten quite a few IMMEDIATE positive responses (unfortunately the positions where taken) that where a far cry from the silence I got from the previous “plain” e-mails.
To sum things up: Be creative and think outside of the box. In this down economy lots of people are looking for work too, so find a way to grab employers’ attention and distinguish yourself from the competition.
BTW If you would like for me to create you an amazing e-mail CONTACT ME.
